Get Your COVID-19 Vaccine!

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

Hey, Frontier Fam! Today I would like to talk with y'all about getting vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19. It is the single most important action you can take in keeping yourself and your family safe during this highly contagious pandemic. Woof!

How do they work?

The Moderna and Pfizer immunizations that are available at Frontier Pharmacy are mRNA vaccines. These vaccines have material from the virus in them, and that material instructs our cells to copy a harmless protein unique to the virus. Once our cells copy the information, they destroy the viral genetic material. Now that our bodies have the copies, the next time we are infected with the virus, it is quickly recognized and attacked by our guardian white blood cells!

Can you still get COVID-19 if you have been vaccinated?

Yes, but because your body has seen this virus before, the symptoms of the disease are typically significantly milder. In fact, adults 65 years old and older who were fully vaccinated had a 94% reduction in risk of COVID-19 hospitalizations. Get vaccinated, stay out of the hospital.

Why do I have to get boosted?

Welp, that COVID-19 virus sure is smart. Bark. COVID mutates over time, looking slightly different each mutation. These changes confuse our immune systems that had studied the original copies we received. Our cells have to make copies of the newest COVID virus, so they know what the new COVID in town looks like when it comes sniffing around. Grrrr.

Can animals get COVID-19?

Thank you for your concern. Animals can get and spread COVID, but the risk is low. Although it's possible, it's also rare for pets to get really sick from COVID. What a relief! Hoooooowl!

Well, that's all for now. Thank you to my friends at the CDC for teaching me all of this human knowledge. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask my mom at Frontier. See you soon to get your vaccine!

Sincerely,

Simon
